Stony Point Man Receives Prison Sentence For Failing To Register Address Change

A Stony Point man was sentenced to serve a minimum of just under two years in prison following a guilty plea Monday (August 17) in a sex offense case in Alexander County.

55-year-old Bobby Lee Minton pleaded guilty to failure to notify law enforcement of an address change as a registered sex offender. He was sentenced to 23-37 months in prison. As a result of entering the plea deal in Alexander County, similar charges in Iredell County will be dismissed. Minton will be eligible for Advanced Supervised Release after serving 17 months.

Minton was arrested by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office on October 2, 2019 and had been awaiting trial. He was charged in 2003 in Iredell County with indecent liberties with a minor. He was convicted in 2005 and given 60 months probation according to the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry.
