Stony Point Man Charged With Strangulation, Domestic Violence Offenses
46-year-old Stewart Brandon Mullins of Stony Point was arrested Monday (March 6) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of breaking & entering, larceny after breaking & entering, assault by strangulation, violation of a domestic violence protection order with a deadly weapon, and probation violation. Mullins is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of domestic violence protection order violation and one misdemeanor count of domestic criminal trespass.
Mullins is on probation as a result of a conviction in July, 2021 in Alexander County for felony possession of a firearm by felon. The offense was committed in September, 2020. He received a one-year, one month prison sentence and is scheduled to be on parole until December 1, 2023.
According to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Mullins has a conviction record that dates back to 2009. He’s been convicted of crimes in Iredell, Burke, and Alexander County. The charges include felony larceny, possession of a firearm by a felon, and misdemeanor driving while license revoked.
Mullins was jailed in the Alexander County Detention Center under $125,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (March 7). A District Court date is scheduled for March 13 and a Superior Court appearance is set for March 20 in Taylorsville.
