Stony Point Man Charged With Drug Offenses Following Search Of Residence

54-year-old David Richard Moore of Taylorsville Highway in Stony Point was arrested Tuesday (July 11) by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance.

On Tuesday, members of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (SERT), and Road Patrol Deputies executed a narcotics search warrant at an address on Taylorsville Highway in Stony Point.

Investigators had received information from community members via the Iredell Sheriff App about the residence being used for the distribution of crystal meth. This residence was known to investigators because in January 2019 a search warrant was executed, and heroin was found. During this recent investigation, the Narcotics Detectives were able to conduct surveillance and purchase a quantity of crystal meth directly from those inside the home.

Upon the execution of the search warrant, investigators found six people inside and secured the residence. A search was conducted and investigators found crystal meth and other items indicative of the use and distribution of controlled substances.

Moore was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate in Iredell County as of earlier today (July 13). A District Court date is scheduled for August 2.
