Stony Point Man Arrested On String Of Drug Charges

61-year-old Herman Dale Payne of East Lackey Farm Road in Stony Point was arrested last Friday (April 28) by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine, possession of schedule I controlled substance, and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance. He’s also charged with two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and single misdemeanor counts of possession of schedule III controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

On Friday, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team responded to an anonymous narcotics complaint at an address on East Lackey Farm Road in Stony Point. When deputies arrived at the address, they made contact with the resident, Herman Dale Payne, and told him the information they had received.

Payne admitted to having narcotics in the residence. Deputies then conducted a search of the home and found methamphetamine, psychedelic mushrooms, buprenorphine hydrochloride, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Payne was arrested and charged, then taken before the Magistrate, where bond was set at $7,500 secured. He is not listed as an inmate in Iredell County today (May 4). A District Court date is set for May 22.
