STATESVILLE, N.C. (WHKY) – According to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell, a Statesville woman is facing felony charges after investigators say she provided two juveniles with information and a lighter used to set fire to a vacant residence. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation began after racial slurs were spray-painted on a church van at Truth Temple Church of God on Merriman Road. Detectives say they later discovered additional properties in the area had been vandalized with racial slurs.

Investigators identified two juveniles as suspects. According to the sheriff’s office, the juveniles admitted to damaging multiple properties, breaking into a vacant residence, stealing property and setting a fire there. Investigators also identified 48-year-old Amber Lee Christley of Statesville. Authorities allege Christley provided the juveniles with information on how to set the fire and gave them a lighter.

Christley is charged with felony burning of a building or structure in process of construction, felony conspiracy and two counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. The two juveniles face multiple charges, including felony burning, breaking and entering and larceny, as well as charges related to ethnic intimidation and property damage. Christley was arrested August 19th and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. A magistrate set her secured bond at $10,000.
