63-year-old Teresa Ellison Campbell of Statesville has been arrested on misdemeanor counts of child abuse and assault on a child under 12.

Friday (January 27), the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office took a call from Alexander County Schools regarding an alleged assault that occurred on school property. Officers investigated and determined that a staff member assaulted a student during school hours.

Following her arrest, Campbell was given a $30,000 secured bond. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled for February 27.
