IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (WHKY) — An Iredell County man is facing multiple felony drug charges after deputies found him unresponsive behind the wheel of a running vehicle in Statesville.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Saturday, August 1, to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked along Golden Oak Drive. The caller reported a man was slumped over behind the steering wheel.

Deputy A. McDonald located the vehicle with the engine running and the transmission still in drive. Deputies said the driver, later identified as 41-year-old Tyler Lewis Reid of Statesville, did not respond to repeated attempts to wake him.

After Reid regained consciousness, deputies reported seeing drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered methamphetamine, cocaine and additional drug paraphernalia. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to assist with the driving while impaired investigation.

Reid was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor driving while impaired. He appeared before a magistrate, who ordered that he be held without bond.
