Statesville Man Faces Multiple Felony Drug Charges in Two Counties

45-year-old Boris Dewan Cunningham of West Front Street in Statesville was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers on April 7 on a long list of felony drug charges. He was charged with 18 counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, four counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, four counts for the sale or delivery a schedule II controlled substance, three counts of maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance, and two counts of felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance, along with single counts of possession of methamphetamine and possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule I controlled substance. In addition, Cunningham was charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Most of the charges are in connection with the sale of narcotics in Gaston County. On the 7th, an Iredell County Deputy located Cunningham at his residence. The suspect was taken into custody as he attempted to flee into the residence. At the time of arrest, Cunningham was reportedly found to be in possession of fentanyl, M.D.M.A.,and meth, all packaged in a manner consistent with the sale of narcotics. Deputies applied for and received a search warrant for the residence. The search turned up fentanyl, M.D.M.A., meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Cunningham was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was given a $2,550,000 secured bond for the 25 outstanding felony warrants, and he was held under no bond on the Iredell County charges. An appearance in a Gaston County courtroom was scheduled on April 9 with an Iredell County District Court date coming up on April 24.

Cunningham has a criminal history that includes felony counts for the sale or delivery of a schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell or deliver meth, and possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance.
