22-year-old Akira Chauncey Linney of Reid Street in Statesville was arrested last Thursday (July 30) by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He was charged with felony counts of possession of a stolen firearm and possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana along with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Last Thursday, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives, and deputies assigned to the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team were conducting an investigation at the Motel 7 on Greenland Drive in Statesville. The investigation began after complaints were filed stating that narcotic sales were being conducted in one of the motel’s rooms.
Deputies spoke to the occupant of the room, Akira Linney, and reportedly noticed evidence of controlled substances inside the room. The deputies searched the room and found several individual bags of marijuana packaged for sale, along with drug paraphernalia. Officers also reportedly found Linney to be in possession of a firearm that was reported to have been stolen from Statesville.
Linney’s bond was set at $10,000 secured. He was not listed as an inmate in Iredell County today (August 4). A District Court appearance is scheduled for August 21.
