Statesville Man Arrested on Felony Firearms Charge
28-year-old Steven James Morrison of Freedom Park Lane in Statesville has been arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers on a felony count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A second subject, a 52-year-old Statesville man, was also charged with misdemeanor marijuana and alcohol offenses.
They were arrested on June 16 as Deputies were working in the Greenbriar Road area when they stopped a vehicle on Twin Oaks Road, near Statesville. As a Deputy approached the driver, the Deputy saw an alcoholic beverage in plain view in the center console cup holder.
The Deputy then asked the driver and his passenger, Steven Morrison, to step out of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of marijuana and a handgun. A criminal records search indicated that Morrison is a convicted felon.
Morrison was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond. He’ll appear in District Court on June 26.
Morrison has a criminal history that includes two counts of misdemeanor larceny, felony assault by strangulation, felony breaking & entering with intent to terrorize or injure, misdemeanor assault, and felony stalking. He is currently on probation for felony stalking.
