35-year-old James Fredrick Shuford of South Miller Avenue in Statesville has been arrested by Iredell Co. Sheriff’s Officers on felony counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance (crack cocaine), possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule I controlled substance (ecstasy), maintaining a residence for the distribution of controlled substances, possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana), and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to information released by the Sheriff’s Office yesterday (October 26), the investigation leading to Shuford’s arrest began when Narcotics Investigators received information indicating that the suspect was distributing crack cocaine and other illegal drugs in the area. Undercover Investigators established surveillance operations. Last Wednesday (October 21), Narcotics Investigators and Officers with the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) executed a narcotics search warrant at Shuford’s residence. Investigators found crack cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and a firearm in the home.
Shuford was placed in the Iredell Co. Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. He’ll appear in District Court on December 1.
Shuford has a criminal history that includes felony trafficking in cocaine, along with misdemeanor charges for possession of drug paraphernalia (three counts), second-degree trespassing, possession of marijuana (four counts), resisting a public officer (two counts), and multiple driving and license-related offences.
