Statesville Man Accused Of Fleeing Traffic Stop After Drugs Found
IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (WHKY) — A Statesville man faces felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say he ran from a traffic stop where methamphetamine, marijuana and other drugs were found.
45-year-old Randy Eugene Pack was arrested Thursday, September 3, after an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a vehicle on Harmony Highway near Tomlin Road.
Sheriff Darren Campbell said Deputy J. Raper of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team conducted the stop at approximately 2 p.m. Investigators determined Pack’s driver’s license was revoked and asked him to step out of the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, the deputy reportedly found marijuana. Authorities said a subsequent search of Pack and his clothing uncovered alprazolam and approximately eight-tenths of a gram of methamphetamine.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Pack ran from the traffic stop after the drugs were found. Deputy Raper chased him and used a Taser to take him into custody a short distance away.
Pack was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor resisting, delaying and obstructing a law enforcement officer, and misdemeanor driving while license revoked.
Pack was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Thompson ordered him held without bond.
