STATESVILLE, N.C. (WHKY) — Families are invited to celebrate local history and prepare for the upcoming school year during the Statesville Heritage Festival this Saturday.

The free event will be held August 1 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Statesville Event Center on South Center Street as part of the community’s America 250 celebration.

The festival will feature live entertainment, cultural exhibits, educational presentations, food vendors, artisans, family activities, and community discussions highlighting local history.

A free book-bag giveaway is also scheduled from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Organizers say donated backpacks and school supplies will be distributed to local students while supplies last.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.
