STATESVILLE, N.C. (WHKY) — Statesville has ended its remaining voluntary water-conservation measures after drought conditions improved again.

The city said Tuesday that it has moved to D-zero classification, meaning abnormally dry, under the latest assessment by the North Carolina Drought Management Advisory Council.

The improvement ends the voluntary lawn-and-landscape irrigation schedule and the request that residents reduce vehicle washing. Normal water use may resume.

Statesville lifted its mandatory water restrictions in late July after conditions improved from severe to moderate drought, but voluntary conservation measures remained in place.
