Splash Pad Coming To Lenoir

The City of Lenoir is building a new splash pad at the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex. Construction should start in the middle of July. The splash pad will be pear shaped. It will be 2,516 square feet with a 5-foot border. The spray area will be 1,648 square feet with 55 spray features of different types. There will be two ground activators for children to turn on the sprayers.

The splash pad will be located just northeast of the restroom building at the soccer complex. Visitors will have easy access to the pad and restrooms via a new greenway connection. The new section will run from the northeast parking lot to the splash pad and around to the southwest parking lot. In addition to the splash pad, the City plans to build a new picnic shelter by the restroom building to provide some shade and a place to have a snack.

Construction should start around July 15, 2024, and the contractors have 150 days to complete the project. The pad should be finished by the end of the year, barring any unforeseen issues. City Council approved the bid for the new splash pad in May this year. The project is being funded with a North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) Grant and federal American Rescue Plan Act money.
