33-year-old Timothy Scott Pratt of Chesterfield, S.C. was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with two felony counts apiece of obtaining property by false pretense and forgery.
On December 20, 2023, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a business owner in reference to check fraud. The business owner told police a check was mailed from their business to another location, but at some point, the check was stolen from the mail and cashed by an unauthorized person.
A detective obtained bank records and video surveillance of a suspect passing the altered check at a check cashing business. While conducting the investigation, the detective received a second report from another business involving the same suspect.
Through video surveillance and evidence obtained, Timothy Scott Pratt of Chesterfield, S.C. was identified as the suspect and arrest warrants were obtained against him. On February 1, Pratt was located while attempting to cash another altered check at a business in Mooresville.
He was arrested at that time and was served with a total of seven outstanding warrants, the four warrants from Iredell County and three fugitive warrants from other states. Pratt was jailed in the Iredell County Detention Center. As of earlier today (February 9), he remained in that facility under $365,500 secured bond. His next District Court date is February 20 in Statesville.
