Six Candidates Interviewed Today for Superintendent’s Position in Alexander County

The Alexander County Board of Education has scheduled interviews today (May 17) with six candidates for the position of Superintendent of Alexander County Schools. Current Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Hefner is retiring at the end of the school year.

The board will interview the candidates in Statesville. On February 26, the board approved the Masonboro Group of Wilmington to assist with the search at a cost of $18,500. The group’s timeline, submitted to the board, previously said they would have a candidate selected and contracted by May 6.

The chairman of the Superintendent Search Committee, Matt Reese, says due to circumstances beyond the Masonboro Group’s control, the interviews were moved from April 29-30 to today.
