Catawba County saw it’s lowest number of new COVID-19 cases since August with single digits reported both days over the weekend. There were six new infections reported Saturday (February 27) and four confirmed on Sunday (February 28), increasing the overall total to 17,055. There were three coronavirus-related deaths reported over the weekend, increasing the total 282 in Catawba County. There were 43 people hospitalized.
The last update from Caldwell County health officials showed single digit new case totals as well, with eight reported on Friday (February 26), increasing the total to 8,639. There were two virus-related deaths reported in Caldwell Friday, raising the total to 134. 14 people were hospitalized, the lowest since late October.
According to the Burke County COVID-19 dashboard, five new cases of the virus have been added since the county’s last update Thursday (February 25), making the total 9,422, with 140 deaths. There were eight people hospitalized. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported six new cases of COVID-19 in Alexander County Sunday, raising the total to 3,901, with 81 deaths.
