On Wednesday (April 7) at approximately 10:40 p.m., Hickory Police Officers responded to an address on 3rd Avenue SE after receiving a 911 call that a woman had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found a 59-year-old woman inside the residence with a gunshot wound to the head and leg.
A 16-year-old male also had a minor injury to his arm from a gunshot wound. The woman was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center where she was initially treated prior to being transferred to Carolinas Medical Center and is listed in stable condition. The 16-year-old was treated at the scene for his injury.
During the initial investigation, it was determined that the two individuals were inside the residence when an unknown person or people fired multiple rounds into the residence while standing in the front yard.
