A suspect is wanted in connection to a Burke County shooting. On Thursday (December 17) at approximately 12:56 p.m., Burke County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to an address on Fox Drive in Connelly Springs. The caller stated that the shooter was still in the residence and the victim was in the yard.
When deputies arrived, they found a 34-year-old man laying in the yard with what appeared to be a small caliber gunshot wound to the abdomen. Deputies secured the scene and were told the suspect, 33-year-old Kenneth Lee Morgan of Fox Drive in Connelly Springs fled on foot just prior to the deputies arrival. The suspect and victim knew each other.
Burke County EMS and first responders administered aid at the scene, the victim was airlifted to a medical facility. Burke County Officers searched the surrounding area but did not find the suspect. Detectives from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division obtained a search warrant, and the Burke County SWAT team cleared the locked residence where the crime was committed. No one was found in the residence.
A felony warrant was obtained for Kenneth Lee Morgan for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. The victim’s condition was not known as of late this morning (December 18). No description of the suspect was available beyond the fact that he is a 33-year-old white male.
