18-year-old Calvin Alexander Fair of Gastonia was arrested Tuesday (September 29) by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony breaking and entering to a motor vehicle along with misdemeanor counts of attempted breaking and entering to a motor vehicle and resist, obstruct and delay of a public officer.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies recovered a vehicle stolen from Gastonia while responding to a call at approximately 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies had been dispatched to a vehicle break-in call on Shiloh Run Lane in Lincolnton when they encountered the stolen vehicle, a silver Mazda CX5, on Hickory Nut Lane.
The victim in the original call told officers he was alerted by his security camera that someone was walking around his vehicles with the doors open. When he went to confront the suspect he fled the scene on foot. Nothing was stolen from the victim’s vehicles.
A neighbor, who was leaving for work, gave officers a description of a male and female who were standing with the stolen vehicle. They were found a short time later coming out of a wooded area and the male suspect ran from officers. He was apprehended following a brief foot chase. The female was not charged.
Fair was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (September 30). A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
