Sexual Assault Under Investigation In Lenoir, Police Offer Safety Tips

On Sunday (August 16) at 9:35 p.m., officers with the Lenoir Police Department responded to an address in the Joyceton area inside the City Limits of Lenoir to investigate the sexual assault of an elderly female. At this time, it appears that the suspect was not related to the victim. Lenoir Police did not release any more information, the investigation is continuing.

The news release from the Lenoir Police Department says much of the time, criminals choose to utilize the cover of night to prey on un-expecting victims. Utilize things such as outside lighting, and remove things from the entrances and exits of your residence to minimize hiding areas for anyone looking to harm someone.
