Sex Offender Wanted In Florida In Custody In Burke County

36-year-old Johnathon Ray Dove, who is listed as a homeless person from the Linville Gorge Wilderness, was arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged on a felony warrant as a fugitive from justice.

The warrant is from Marion County, Florida, for failure to comply with sex offender requirements, common law cheat, and sex offender violation. Dove is on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Sex Offender Registry as a result of a conviction in July of 2019. Dove was convicted in Marion County, Florida of unlawful sexual activity with certain minors 16 or 17-years-old.

According to a published report out of Ocala, Florida, last August Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods requested the public’s help in finding Dove. The Sheriff said he had moved from his residence without notifying the sheriff’s office, which is required for sex offenders.

Dove was arrested shortly after 12 noon last Thursday (February 22) at an address on N.C. 181 in Newland. He was brought to the Burke County Jail and incarcerated under no bond. As of earlier today (February 27), Dove was still being held without bond. His next District Court appearance is scheduled Friday (March 1).
