25-year-old Joshua Mitchell Vorndran of the Franklin County town of Youngsville, N.C. was arrested by Boone Police Officers. He’s charged with two felony counts of sex offender unlawfully on premises primarily for the use of minors.
Last Friday (April 28), shortly after 12 noon, officers with the Boone Police Department’s Patrol Division were contacted by a local business which provides activities for children. The business reported that a man had visited the location twice. Business representatives became suspicious of the man as a result of their interactions.
Responding officers identified the suspicious male as Joshua Mitchell Vorndran. During the investigation, officers learned that Vorndran is a registered sex offender and that his presence on the premises was illegal. Boone officers and members of the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office attempted to find Vorndran in the area.
Boone Police investigators found Vorndran on Mertie Road in Wilkes County. Boone Police were assisted in their investigation by the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office. Vorndran was taken into custody by Wilkes County authorities and placed in the Wilkes County Jail under $25,000 secured bond. A Watauga County District Court date is scheduled for June 23.
Vorndran is on the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry as a result of a conviction in March, 2018 in Wake County on a charge of secretly creating photographic images through or under garments. The victim was 11-years-old at the time of the offense in August, 2016. Vorndran was sentenced to 48 months of probation and registered as a sex offender with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
