TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. (WHKY) – A registered sex offender from Alexander County was arrested on a warrant from federal authorities. Thursday (September 24) at 5:30 p.m. officers with Taylorsville Police Department arrested 51-year-old Matthew James Dury of Highway 16 South in Taylorsville.

Dury had an active warrant from the US Marshals for a violation of probation conditions. Taylorsville Police reports state he was on probation for possession of obscene material. Dury is listed as a registered sex offender as a result of a federal conviction in 2008 for receipt of child pornography.

Dury was placed on a hold with no bond until he was picked up by US Marshals.
