Seven LR Women’s Triathlon Student-Athletes Named Academic All-America

The College Triathlon Coaches Association announced its Academic All-American selections on Monday. Lenoir-Rhyne was named as a Scholar All-American Team and had seven of its participants selected as Individual Scholar All-Americans.

As a team, the Bears achieved a roster GPA of 3.2 or greater, which met the standards by the CTCA for its Scholar All-American Teams. LR was one of the 33 programs across all three divisions to receive the honor.

For individual honors, all seven participants who competed in nationals achieved All-American status. The CTCA recognizes an individual scholar All-American as a student-athlete who recorded an individual GPA of 3.5 or greater and finished in the top 20 within its division at nationals.

This year’s recipients include Sabrina Fleig, Nanette Nikolajsen, Sayti Plank, Eliska Rihova, Zoila Sicilia, Claudia Teran-Romagosa, and Teresa Vesely.

This marks the second year in a row that Fleig, Nikolajsen, Rihova, and Teran-Romagosa have received All-American status. Plank was named an honorable mention last year after being placed right outside the top 20.

In addition to their accomplishments in the classroom, all seven members of the women’s triathlon team also earned All-American status back in December.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Triathlon Team won the 2023 National Championship back on Nov. 11, 2023, marking back-to-back national titles for the program.
