September Events at the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center

The Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center has announced several upcoming events.

A dinner and a family-friendly show will be held on Thursday, September 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Center’s Educational Complex, 70 Hiddenite Church Road in Hiddenite. The show is “The Time Machine,” presented by the Atlantic Coast Theatre. It’s based on H.G. Wells’ 1895 science fiction novel and is described as a “Steampunk” rock musical. Dinner will be spaghetti with a tossed salad, garlic bread, and dessert. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Reservations are suggested.

The Center is taking registrations for a Painted Barn Quilt Class on Saturday September 10 from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. at the Educational Complex. The class instructor is Carol Mitchell of Taylorsville.

Students will create their own 2×2 painted Barn Quilts. Cost for the beginner-level workshop is $65 for Center members and $70 for the public. All the materials needed to complete the Barn Quilt will be provided. Pre-paid registration is required.

A Kids Painting Party will be held on Saturday, September 17 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. for children ages six and up. A light snack will be served while students are led in painting an 8×10 canvas. Cost for the workshop is $20. The Center will provide all materials. The class will be held at the Educational Complex. Local artist Abby Moretz of the Bethlehem Community will host the paint party. And in conjunction with the 41st Annual Hiddenite Celebration of the Arts Festival, the Center will hold their annual “Celebrate Seniors” luncheon on Tuesday, September 20 at the Educational Complex beginning at 10 a.m. Cost is $10 per person, including lunch and entertainment by comedian Diane Fox, better known as Ms. Eufola Bell Gump from “just down the road.” Call for reservations or go to to purchase tickets online. Guests of all ages are welcome to attend this special program honoring senior adults.
