Second Suspect in Hiddenite Murder Arrested

18-year-old Karla Breanna Freeland of Statesville has been arrested by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers on one count of felony murder. She was taken into custody on March 26 at about 2:15 p.m.

Freeland was wanted in connection with the death of Pang Vueyee, who was shot and killed at an address on Old Mountain Village Drive in Hiddenite in the early morning hours of March 25. 46-year-old Jason Henry Fidler of Hiddenite was arrested previously in connection with the same case, as reported by WHKY on the 25th.

Following her arrest, Freeland was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center where she’s being held without bond. As she was processed at the Detention Center, Freeland was found to be in possession of narcotics. She was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond on those charges was set at $10,000, secured. Freeland will make a first appearance in District Court on April 1.
