Second Shooting Reported In Statesville In Two Day Period

On Wednesday, (May 3) at approximately 10:30 a.m. Statesville Police Officers responded to a call for shots fired at the 600 block of Monroe Street.

While enroute, officers were advised that a 20-year-old Statesville resident arrived at Iredell Memorial Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The individual was later transported to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found shell casings in the road in front of 610 Monroe Street. The SPD Violent Crimes unit is investigating this incident, and no other information is available at this time. It is unknown if this incident is related to a shooting that occurred on 5th Street on May 2nd.
