Second Recent Rabies Case Confirmed in Caldwell County

A skunk found in Caldwell County’s Grace Chapel area has tested positive for rabies. The skunk came into contact with a dog on Addison Lane. The North Carolina State Laboratory notified Caldwell County Animal Control today (October 15) that the skunk tested positive.

It’s the second rabid skunk in the area in about a week and the third case of rabies in Caldwell County this year. The other recent case was on Rio De Luna, about a block from Addison Lane.
