49-year-old Samuel Orren Price and 53-year-old Wendy Denise Benfield, both from the same address on Snow Creek Road in Statesville, have been arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. Price was charged with felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction. Benfield was arrested on felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a vehicle for the sale or use of a controlled substance, along with a misdemeanor count of possession of a schedule III controlled substance. Price and Benfield were both charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, as was a third suspect, a 38-year-old female from the same address.
They were arrested last Wednesday (November 29) when Deputies received information regarding illegal narcotics at the Snow Creek Road address, north of Statesville. Officers responded to the residence and spoke with all three suspects. During the course of the conversation, drug paraphernalia was located. A search warrant was issued, leading to the discovery of meth, prescription pills, marijuana wax, a weapon of mass destruction, and drug paraphernalia.
Benfield and Price were taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. They were each given a $7,500 secured bond. Benfield will appear in District Court on December 21, while Price has a court date set for December 18. The third suspect was issued a citation with a court date coming up on January 8.
