Search of Motel Room Leads to Lincoln County Drug Arrest

23-year-old Robert Christopher Doeppe of N.C. Highway 27 West in Lincolnton has been arrested by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers and charged with one felony count each of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.

Events leading to his arrest began when Deputies stopped a vehicle at the intersection of East Main Street and North Generals Boulevard early yesterday morning (July 20). The vehicle had just left a location known for the sale of illegal drugs. During the stop, K9 Officer Marty and his handler conducted an air sniff around the vehicle and detected the odor of drugs. A search turned up a white crystal powder and drug paraphernalia. The driver was charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the investigation, Deputies learned that the illegal drugs had been purchased at a room at the Day’s Inn Motel on Clark Drive in Lincolnton. A search warrant was obtained.

Officers went to the motel and entered the motel room without incident. The room was occupied by two suspects and a minor child. The search led to the discovery of illegal narcotics and electronic devices used in the sale of drugs.

One of the occupants, Robert Christopher Doeppe, was arrested and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond. He’ll appear in District Court on August 10.
