LONG VIEW, N.C. (WHKY) – The Long View Police Department is conducting a search of a property located at 2014 7th Avenue SW in Hickory following an anonymous tip concerning possible human remains buried on the property. After receiving the tip, the department began investigating the information and requested the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. That investigative work led to the issuance of a search warrant for the property.

Investigators from the Long View Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation have begun searching the property and will continue their efforts to determine the validity of the anonymous tip.
During the investigation, 7th Avenue SW will be closed between 19th Street SW and 21st Street SW. Residents and motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes to help reduce traffic congestion and allow investigators to conduct the investigation.

Currently, there is no known threat to the public. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Long View Police Department at 828-327-2343.
