Saturday COVID-19 Update: Death Reported In Caldwell, Cases Confirmed In All Hickory Metro Counties

13 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed today (September 19) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the overall total to 2,974, with 52 deaths. There were 14 people hospitalized with the coronavirus, the same total as Friday.

The 28th COVID-19-associated death was reported Friday (September 18) in Caldwell County. The patient, who was over the age of 75, was hospitalized and reported to have underlying conditions. 12 new coronavirus cases were confirmed Friday, increasing the total to 1,607, with 21 people currently hospitalized.

On Friday, Caldwell County Emergency Management distributed personal protective equipment to the 16 fire/rescue agencies that serve the county. Departments received a supply of N-95 masks, gowns, procedural masks, face shields, safety glasses, and gloves. This PPE equips departments to expand the number of medical calls they currently run.

32 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Friday in Burke County, increasing the total to 2,259, with 41 deaths. There were five people hospitalized in Burke County.  The Alexander County Health Department reported 15 cases Friday, raising the count to 467, with four deaths. 58 people were in quarantine with COVID-19, four people were in the hospital and at least 401 people had recovered.
