Saturday COVID-19 Update: Death Reported In Caldwell, All Four Hickory Metro Counties Report Cases Fri.

30 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed Friday (August 7) in Catawba County, increasing the total to 2,111, with 30 deaths. Coronavirus hospitalizations increased to 23 in Catawba County today, up from 21 on Thursday.

Caldwell County health officials learned of the county’s 16th COVID-19-related death Friday. The patient, who was between the ages of 50 and 64, had been hospitalized. The death is related to the outbreak at the Caldwell Correctional Center in Hudson.
15 new coronavirus cases were confirmed Friday, increasing the count to 1,208, with 20 hospitalizations. At least 620 patients had recovered.

Burke County Public Health reported 16 additional cases of COVID-19 Friday, increasing the total to 1738, with 28 deaths. There were ten patients hospitalized Friday and at least 1,279 have recovered.

Six additional coronavirus cases were confirmed Friday in Alexander County, increasing the total to 289, with two deaths. The Alexander County Health Department reports that 31 people are in quarantine with COVID-19 and three people were in the hospital.
