20 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Friday (August 28) by Catawba County Public Health, raising the overall total to 2,599, with 44 deaths. There were 14 people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Catawba County, one more than Thursday (August 27).
Burke County Public Health was notified Friday about the 35th COVID-19-associated death in the county. The individual in their 70s was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions. Eight new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Burke County, increasing the total to 2004. There were 11 people hospitalized and at least 1,708 patients had recovered.
Seven new COVID-19 cases were confirmed Friday in Caldwell County, increasing the overall total to 1,416, with 20 deaths. There were 20 patients hospitalized and at least 792 had recovered.
