Rutherford County Man Killed in Early Monday Morning Crash in Burke County

One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Burke County early this morning (January 15). The deceased is 31-year-old Aaron Nicholas Langley of Ellenboro (in Rutherford County). The accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. today.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene on U.S. Highway 64 near Baker Farm Road. The driver of a northbound 2000 Nissan Xterra on U.S. 64 attempted to pass another northbound vehicle and collided head-on with a southbound 2020 Freightliner utility truck.

Mr. Langley, who was driving the Xterra, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the utility truck, a 25-year-old Claremont man, was not injured.

U.S. 64 was closed in the area for approximately three hours during the on-scene investigation. No charges will be filed.
