Rutherford County Man Jailed On Burke County Drug, Larceny Charges

36-year-old Randy Sean Waters of Rutherfordton was arrested Saturday (April 29) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor larceny of property, receiving or possessing stolen goods.

Saturday night at approximately 9:30, a Morganton Public Safety Officer responded to an address on Burkemont Avenue in reference to a larceny from Rural King. The officer was told that the suspects who committed the crime were in a gold Chevrolet truck parked at a gas station. Police were told that a pair of boots had been taken from the store.

The officer made contact with the driver of the truck, who is the suspect, Waters. The officer told Waters why he was being questioned. During the investigation the officer seized 1.5 grams of methamphetamine. The suspect was taken into custody and brought to the Burke County Jail.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Waters has a criminal history that includes convictions on misdemeanor charges in 2009, 2012, and 2014, all in Rutherford County. Following Saturday’s arrest, Waters was placed in jail under $10,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (May 2). A District Court date was scheduled Monday (May 1).
