A reported robbery is under investigation. On Monday (November 30) at 8:24 a.m., the Burke County Emergency Communication Center received a call of a possible armed robbery. A victim’s vehicle had broken down and was left in the west bound emergency lane of Interstate 40 between Exits 100 and 103. As the driver and passenger were walking from their disabled vehicle to the next exit to get a ride to work, a friend arrived. The friend told the victim someone was in his vehicle removing items.
They drove back to the disabled vehicle and found a female suspect standing beside it with items taken from inside the abandoned vehicle. The female suspect ran back to her own vehicle and was attempting to flee. A friend of the victim attempted to detain the female suspect by reaching inside the suspect’s car to take her keys.
After a brief confrontation, the female suspect retrieved a small pistol and pointed it at the friend. The suspect left in her vehicle traveling west on I-40. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a silver Lincoln Town car with a broken driver’s side taillight. Burke County detectives have developed a suspect, and the investigation is continuing.
