According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, a Hickory road has been closed as a result of a weather event. 39th Avenue Drive NW in North Hickory, located between N.C. 127 and Lake Hickory has been closed due to a pipe wash out resulting in road damage. The incident occurred early this morning (May 26).

Officials say the road will be closed until the pipe can be replaced. The detour is 39th Avenue Drive NW to N.C. 127 to 29th Avenue Drive NW back to 39th Avenue Drive NW. The estimated completion date is Monday, August 31 at 5:30 p.m.
