Rhodhiss Man Charged With Theft Of Copper In Burke County

35-year-old Marcus Allen Rudisill of Spruce Street in Rhodhiss was arrested last Friday (May 12) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of breaking & entering and larceny. Rudisill is also charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of failure to appear. He was previously charged with felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle along with a misdemeanor count of resisting a public officer.

On May 4, 2023, a Burke County deputy initiated a traffic stop in the early morning hours in Hildebran on a Honda Accord. The vehicle sped off attempting to elude the deputy and wrecked a short time later. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot. The deputy found the suspect, identified as Marcus Allen Rudisill, and arrested him without incident.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 32 spools of copper wire valued at $4,600. As a result of the investigation, it was discovered the copper had been stolen that morning from a utility company in Burke County. Bond for Rudisill was set at $10,000 and he was released following the May 4 arrest. Last Friday, detectives found Rudisill and served him with the breaking & entering and larceny warrants in reference to the stolen copper.

Bond for Rudisill was set at $10,000 secured following the Friday arrest. He was not listed as an inmate in Burke County as of earlier today (May 16). District Court appearances are scheduled for May 25 and June 2.
