Residential Fire Sunday In Hickory

Residential Fire Sunday in Hickory

At about 12:25 yesterday afternoon (March 27), Hickory Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the area of 617 1st Avenue S.E. Upon arrival, Firefighters reported fire and smoke coming from the roof of the single-story residential building and heavy amounts of smoke inside the house. Firefighters checked the building to ensure all occupants were outside and worked to extinguish the fire.

The Hickory Fire Department responded with two engines, one ladder, one rescue truck, and one command unit. Catawba County E.M.S. also responded. The Red Cross will assist the occupant.

A Fire Investigator determined that the fire was caused by an electrical heater that was too close to combustible material.
