Probation Absconder Arrested on Multiple Counts of Failure to Appear

43-year-old Johnny Dwayne Lewis White of Sandalwood Court in Newton has been arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers on multiple counts of failure to appear. White reportedly twice failed to appear in court on counts of resisting a public officer (two counts), habitual larceny, second-degree trespassing (two counts), misdemeanor larceny, and injury to real property. He also failed to appear in court once on charges of felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance, attempted possession of a firearm by a felon, and a felony probation violation.

White is on probation as he serves a 24-month suspended sentence following a January 2022 conviction in Catawba County for felony attempted possession of a firearm by a felon. He had been listed as an absconder from probation.

White was jailed yesterday (November 13) in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $103,000. District and Superior Court dates were scheduled today in Newton.
