Prison Sentence Imposed In Catawba County Drug Trafficking Case

A Gaffney, South Carolina woman will spend seven to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamine in Catawba County. 52-year-old Elizabeth Pettit Seals pleaded guilty Wednesday (September 9) in Catawba County Superior Court to trafficking methamphetamine by possession and transportation.

Superior Court Judge Karen Eady-Williams imposed the active prison sentence. Seals will serve her time with the North Carolina Division of Adult Corrections and must also pay a mandatory 100-thousand-dollar fine.
The charges stem from a June 10th traffic stop conducted by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Seals consented to a search of the vehicle, and a K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics.

Troopers found a Goodwill bag in the trunk containing five clear Ziploc bags filled with a white, crystal-like substance that was determined to be a trafficking amount of methamphetamine. Trooper C.G. Crater investigated the case. Assistant District Attorney Kyle Smith prosecuted for the state, with assistance from Legal Assistant Amy Bishoff.
