Preliminary Identification Of Human Remains Announced

According to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, preliminary results indicate that remains found on March 21 in Hiddenite are those of a missing man. The human remains were found by volunteers searching in a wooded area approximately three-quarters of a mile from a missing man’s residence on Sulphur Springs Road.

On Wednesday, March 23, an autopsy was performed at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The Sheriff’s Office initially reported that the level of decomposition would not allow for an identifiecation. On Friday (March 25), the Sheriff’s Office said that preliminary results indicate that the remains are those of 54-year-old Kenneth Dale Walker. He was reported missing on February 24, 2022.

The passing of Mr. Walker was announced on March 21 by Chapman Funeral Home in Stony Point. If you have any information in reference to this case, please contact the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office at (828)632-1111 or (828)632-2911, or Alexander County Crimestoppers at (828)632-8555.
