MAIDEN, N.C. (WHKY) – There is a scheduled Power Outage that will affect Town of Maiden Customers. The planned outage has been requested by Duke Energy so their crews can perform preventive maintenance on Duke Energy-owned equipment at the substation. During the outage, the Town of Maiden will be assisting, reducing the outage interruption time.

The outage is expected from midnight to 4 a.m., Sunday, October 4. Maiden town officials are asking residents to prepare for the outage by unplugging sensitive electronics (computers, televisions, appliances) before the outage to protect them from potential power surges when electricity is restored. Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible during the outage to maintain the temperature.

If you rely on life-support or any medical equipment requiring electricity, please ensure you have a backup power supply or make alternative arrangements. If your building uses electronic access systems or gates, please note they may be impacted. Keep a flashlight handy. If you have any questions call 828-428-5000.
