Police Searching For Vehicle Connected To Murder, Public’s Assistance Requested

The Hickory Police Department is continuing to investigate a fatal shooting earlier this week in Ridgeview. The deceased is 35-year-old Shonniel Blackburn of Hickory. Three of four suspects have been taken into custody. A stolen vehicle connected to the case is being sought by police and the public’s assistance is requested.

At about 12:30 Monday afternoon (June 13), Officers responded to Blue Ridge Heights Apartments on the 900 block of 1st Street S.W. in Hickory. Upon arrival, Officers found Mr. Blackburn lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Catawba County E.M.S. attempted lifesaving procedures, but then later pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Hickory Investigators are searching for a stolen vehicle that the remaining suspect, a 15-year-old male, was spotted in. The vehicle is a silver 2019 Nissan Sentra. The car has a North Carolina license plate with the tag number RDJ-7400. If you see this vehicle, do not approach it or its occupants. Call the Hickory Police Department immediately at 828-328-5551.
