Police Release Photo Of Suspect In Newton Armed Robbery
The investigation into an armed robbery at a convenience store in Newton is continuing and a photo of the suspect has been released. WHKY previously reported on this case Monday (August 21).
Last Saturday (August 19) shortly before 3:45 a.m., officers from the Newton Police
Department responded to the Circle H gas station/convenience store at 334 East 20th
Street. Upon arrival, officers were told that a black male suspect entered the store and demanded money from the store clerk as he displayed a weapon.
The suspect then left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, traveling west on East 20th Street. With the assistance of the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit, officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.
The suspect is described as being a black male, possibly in his 20s or 30s, between 5’7” – 5’10” in height, weighing between 170 -180 pounds, wearing a black face mask, black hoodie shirt, black pants and black tennis shoes.
This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Newton Police Department.
