Police Investigating Shooting on Gay Street in Statesville

Statesville Police are investigating a shooting on Gay Street in Statesville this morning (March 13).

At about 8 a.m. today, Statesville Police responded to the scene on the 1900 block of Gay Street. Upon arrival, Officers found 43-year-old James Adrian Griffin in the roadway with an injury to his head. Officers also found 47-year-old Tasheka Reid Aleryani inside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

Medical assistance was provided by the Statesville Fire Department and Iredell County E.M.S. Aleryani was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, while Griffin was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Griffin and Aleryani were involved in an altercation in the residence when Griffin fired at Aleryani.
