Police Investigate Attempted Theft of A.T.M.

Hickory Police are investigating the attempted theft of an A.T.M. in Hickory’s Viewmont area.

At 3:51 this morning (December 1), as Officers checked businesses on Highway 127, they noticed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot at the BB&T/Suntrust Bank on North Center Street. As Officers approached, two slender males wearing black jackets, pants, and toboggans ran from the parking lot, leaving their vehicle behind.

The vehicle, a champagne-colored 1999 Ford F250 truck, had been reported stolen out of Elkin. The suspects had connected a logging chain to the bank’s A.T.M., but were interrupted by Police during the apparent attempted break-in.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact Hickory Police at 828-328-5551.
